We humans are fast learners; at least most of us are. We learnt to live life in a completely different way that we never experienced but surely did imagine as a sci-fi concept. We could see ourselves surrounded by screens, thinking in a continuous flux of internet signals, not leaving our home, and most important of all, staying connected with friends without meeting them physically.

Sure, humans are social animals. We did not let go of our social behavior. While we started avoiding gyms, we started yoga as a mundane task. While we avoided going to office and work late hours, we learnt the importance of work-life-balance. While we avoided smoking, we learnt healthier ways of eating and almost detoxed our body.

Likewise, most of us entered in a very volatile natured market, called Stock Market. The stock market saw a short, uncertain yet intense shock as a result of worldwide lockdown. Many saw this as an opportunity and bought shares at “discounted” rated. Other rushed towards getting their accounts set up so that they can benefit from the loss which market saw.

The above said might seem to be generic but the beauty is, it is specific to everybody. We learnt many other things and completed many certifications to cope up with the trend so that we can publish the achievement on LinkedIn.

Most of us aren’t critical resources and weren’t called to offices. It saved a few thousand bucks that you would otherwise spend over the fuel of the car or bike or maybe for the public transport. We did not eat outside food and cooked at home for most part of the lockdown months and that, my friend, saved all of us a fortune. Believe me on this!

Other thing, which I would consider the most important of all, we did not smoke during this time. For many, they were fearful of the virus and others, the prices had gone too high. This again saved us a great deal and added years to our lives. In fact, this did not take years from our life any further.

Are you wondering where did all this money go? If yes, then I was talking about this skill to have learnt. It is not all about money that we saved during the lockdown. We talked on several important issues that are generally ignored. We learnt how we were skipping the importance of hygiene. We dealt with mental health issues and heard leaders talking over it. We indulged ourselves in things that we would love to do as a child but forgotten over time and its pace.

We did mop the home; we did the dishes. We did clean our toilets; we did wash our cars. And imagined how we can go on rides and drives when there is no pandemic whatsoever.

Now, as I write, the world is opening again. We can go out but being careful. Masks are the new facial accessory and sanitiser is the new lotion that we apply frequently as we touch things. The pandemic caused many painful deaths but for many, it taught us good lessons. The lessons that are worth remembering for rest of our life, or maybe till some other pandemic breaks out.

We should remember this time and continue to focus on what’s important, like we did during the lockdown. We can go on the rides and drives that we craved for months, but Covid-19 is not yet over. It took us almost a year and even now, it’s not normal. It is “the new normal” as they say.

This particular post is about one of the most Googled destination, Triund. So this is going to be a long one but it'll definitely end most of your queries about Triund. So I'll be starting with a brief about Mcleodganj, Dharamshala.

The place is home to many of the Tibetan refugees and His Holiness, The Dalai Lama. Few years back it used to be one secluded place where peace seekers would visit generally. But as the popularity of the place kept spreading among the youth, now it has became one tourist attraction that attracts all kind of tourists, Indian and Foreigners.

Adventures being one of the main reason of its popularity among youth, it offers adventures like Paragliding, Rock climbing, River Crossing and the Triund Trek. So here are the tips, do's and don'ts about the Triund Trek.

Trek Duration: 2 days & 1 night (Camp Night)
Trek distance: Around 9 KM
Trek starts from: Mcleodganj
Trek ends at: Mcleodganj
Triund Altitude: 10600ft.
Triund trek grade: Easy ( also known as Beginner's Trek)
Accommodation: Good Quality tents (with sleeping bags)

Price: 1500/- (If 4 people or more), in case of less than 4 people extra charge may be applicable.

Triund Temperature: Temperature is mostly pleasant during Spring and Summer (It varies between 5 degree to 25 degree Celsius. During winter (December- February) night temperature can go as down as to -9 degree.

Distance from Delhi: 500 km by Road. Regular overnight volvo buses are available from Delhi. For economic travellers, ordinary bus service is also available.

Weather: Generally sunny in day. The weather here is very enjoyable throughout the year. In winter due to plunging temperature it feels really chilly during night. Go prepared with heavy woolen during winter. In summer light woolens will do in daytime. Sleeping bags are required anytime and provided by us.

Triund Trek Itinerary

Day 1: Mcleodganj to Triund Hill (4-5 hours of trekking)
It is an easy trek and all you need is the will to be at top. Start Trek to Triund a famous campsite situated at an altitude of (2875m), on the way have lunch at midway. After Lunch continue trek and finally reach Triund for night stay. In evening enjoy with bonfires & music, finally sleep in tents provide by us. Don’t forget to see the spectacular view of the Dharamshala from the top in the night.

Day 2: Triund Hill to Snowline and back to Mcleodganj (3-4 hours of trekking)
In the morning have tea & breakfast at the campsite and take short walks to acclimatize. The finest thing is to be with your own. If you want to visit Snow Line (5Kms), then leave early in the morning from Triund. In the afternoon return journey to Mcleodganj.

Inclusion

• Basic vegetarian meals (Lunch and dinner on day-1 & Breakfast and on day-2) 
• Accommodation at trekking tents on twin/triple-sharing basis at hilltop
• Sleeping bags and all camping arrangements

Exclusion

• Items like soft drinks, drinking water and personal items.

When does the Triund trek starts?
The trek start timing is generally 10 AM. So you have to reach to the reporting site (Near Mcleodganj Bus stand) by 10 AM

You will be provided with sleeping bag, tent accommodation, food, guidance and dry pit toilet as per the plan. Therefore, remember to carry toiletries like Toilet Paper. No other facilities will be provided.

How much time does it take to reach Mcleodganj from Delhi?
It will take approx. 10-12 hours to reach Mcleodganj from Delhi by overnight volvo.

How difficult is the trek?
Triund trek difficulty level is easy though in a n area or two some steep uphill trekking is involved. For an example from Bhagusu Nag it is a steep climb to reach Galu devi temple. Other than those steep climb the entire trail is quite easy and can be covered within 5 hours in a leisurely manner.

What to carry for Triund trek

• Day Sack to carry water bottle, camera, packed Lunch, personal clothing. 
• Trekking shoe / sports shoe. Any running shoe that you are comfortable to walk with. 
• Sun Protection: Sun Screen lotion, sun glasses, cap, 
• T-Shirts (1-2), loose trouser for walking
• Heavy Jacket (1), Light Jacket / Light woolen (1-2)
• Skull cap to protect ear, neck from cold in Night
• Good quality socks (1-2 pairs), Flip Flops
• Small torch. 
• Toiletries.
• Personal medicines if any.
• A plastic bag for carrying the wrappers and other wastes back.

Why Trek to to Triund and Snowline:

Reason 1: One of the best view of Dhauladhar Himalayan range
For a group of adventurous friends, Himalayan sojourn is always irresistible due to its tranquility, magnanimity and vastness. And all these start with the panoramic of different ridges, meadows, valleys and snow covered towering peaks. Trek to Triund (altitude of 2825 meter), provides best view of Dhauladhar range of Himalayas. Probably you won’t get a better view from anywhere else with same altitude.

Reason 2: Because your friends need not to be a seasoned Trekker
Triund trek is not at all grueling and demanding in nature. It takes approx. 4 hours for an inexperienced trekker to complete the Trek, which starts from Bhagusu. You can stop over at different places of the trail and take snapshots in this Himalayan heaven. Basically the Triund trek starts from Mcleodganj and it takes 4-6 hours of uphill hiking to trek to Triund hill.

Almost two years ago I started this very amazing journey that has always given me enough confidence to go out and interact with people. I am talking about my blog which I started two years back. The purpose was to go out somewhere on every weekend because I was wasting my weekends staying at home and doing nothing. It did work quite well in the beginning as there was abundance of places of my interest but with the time, my interest and the places both fell drastically.



I stopped writing and more importantly, I stopped going out. The beginning was very smooth and cheerful as I got the initial travel plans very well and made so many friends on those trips. But then I started travelling for the blog. And the blogging was no more a hobby!

Forced by the human nature of pushing ourselves till the end and not giving up is what took another year to finally stop writing blogs. I dragged my darling blog for a couple of months and then it was all again the same old introversion that hit back. Procrastinating was another issue as it made me postpone many plans.

I used to be obsessed with my coffee love and love for writing but eventually it all vanished as I did not went to any place whatsoever. Recently I came across a quote while I was in Mcleod Ganj last month and it says "Writing has unlimited power". It took me some time realizing it by myself.

For the time being, I thought of ways of travelling cheaper and more. And I am all good to go and experimenting my theories of travelling. I will share all my theories and way with you right after a while (Stay tuned!). I do not know how long will these experiments last but I do know that writing has unlimited power and I am going to go with that boost for the few months ahead.

It was all about my time since I started the blog. There wasn't much to be told as I had been a terrible blogger. ButI assure you there are many stories that are coming for you guys to read, love and get inspired to go out, unlike some lethargic introvert who stays home!

Note: It's been a long time since I last wrote something, my friend! Pardon the grammatical errors that I might have committed. It's a boring story and do not waste anyone's time by sharing it. But the for-coming   ones would be fun. Do share them.

Following the heart is an expensive habit. In the last few years we have came across countless stories which concludes to the one simple thought, "Follow your Heart". Talking under the umbrella of travel blogging, it is an expensive interest to pursue.

I too, am a believer of the fact that travelling might be inexpensive. A good trip might end up costing you less than few hundred rupees (Indian). But the question is how to manage things to ensure the least possible expenditure.


With me, it is generally the case that I save for a couple of months and then leave for a trip around the country. (My preference is, generally, mountains in summers and any other place in winters). Both summers and winters can be equally challenging to the will of travelling and to the budget as both demand air conditioned trains ( trains are cheapest).


So it is all about the balance that you make. Sometimes you might want to travel light (which is always the case with me) and you don't want to carry extra warmers for the train journey. Other times, you might get ready to carry extra weight but again you will end up getting frustrated about it.

Other main area where we spend a lot while travelling remains hidden. This area is phone bills. Obviously you are going in a remote destination and you don't want to get lost. So an Internet Pack! The family is important and they have to be informed with all whereabouts. But roaming out of your home state would suck your money. The best way is to only get the Internet Pack. Text your beloved ones and you'd also get to post your photos and check-ins on social medias.


After the two huge pillars in travelling expenditure, now comes the accommodation. Always try to find out a friend who has home in the area. If not possible, try finding a Hostel rather than a hotel. Or the most exciting way to get a place to sleep is to carry your tent. I have, personally, no experience in living in self pegged tent. But I think that would be the most awesome stay at a billion star hotel!

Food is another big entry in the expense chart while travelling. No doubt, people live for food and they want delicious meals. I would say go for it. But does your budget allow that? Once in a while go to some fine dinning restaurant but on other normal days, try the local street food. And don't worry about the extra calories you would be taking in. Because on a tight budget you will have to walk through the streets!


This is the concluding section where I am supposed to provide you with the final judgement of my wisdom. ( No I'am not going to do that) The thing is simple, follow your heart but not like an idiot.
Make decisions wisely and get the solutions. Get the hell out of your comfort zone!

Jaisalmer, a city full of instances of traditional Indian living. I visited Jaisalmer just after the New Year. And every other local said that it's "Season" time. I generally don't mind crowd but I go to places in "off" seasons. This ensures that the place would be peaceful and travelling around it would be inexpensive.

But it's okay, instead of looking over people, I looked  at sun, melting down it the warmth of desert, spreading around the orange-red color in the watery blue sky. Taking away all the warmth with it and leaving behind a cool breeze which waved my hair and brought some sand on my face. I know it's getting too poetic but yes, that's it. The sunset there is like that only.

Jodhpur, I do not know what this name signifies but the city is so beautiful that you would love it. Apart from the main sight-seeings, there is a lot in the area which has the potential to leave you awestruck.

Whoa!

It's the first time that I woke up on a bed! Well, that's true. Lately, I've been travelling around the royal Rajasthan. Not all of it but the two major tourist cities, Jodhpur and Jaisalmer.


The journey is tiring and fun in itself at the same time. My itinerary was of short span and simple as I won't like much complications while out of home.

Firstly, I am not describing my experiences in this post as it's worth an intro! So my budget was low, as usual. I didn't have any of the photography or any other kind of gear. Neither do I have a ride of my own. All of such limitations resulted in a limited experience but I enjoyed the best I could.

I did most of my journey by trains (yes, the very well known Indian Railways!) and a very little of it through local auto-rickshaws. I stayed in the one or two star hotels just to prevent extra expenses on luxury. And rest, on foot!


That's interesting how wandering around a new city on foot becomes an unforgettable experience. You just put on the most comfortable pants you have and upper can be anything in accordance with the local weather. Footwear might be chappals  but I'd suggest that you do not carry extra pair but stick with the shoes.

So let's start the intro part which I was supposed to do right from the beginning!

Rajasthan, as we all know is hot. The days are bright and warm but the nights are chilly (not in context of pepper but cold; I didn't know what's it called). So always carry something warm.

If your budget allows then you might opt for flights but trains are the best means to reach otherwise. One thing you might want to consider is never go straight to Jaisalmer as it takes almost a complete day and it's exhaustive. Go to Jodhpur and having done the sight-seeing, leave for Jaisalmer at night. Basically, travel at night if you are travelling by trains.

This way you'd end up saving the night stays and the time.

Lately, I have been in the search of some place which can offer me peace. There are many places of that genre but I was searching for something that would charm me, tempt me to come again and again. Couldn't find any unless I came across this another "hole in the wall" of Delhi. 

First time backpacker? I've been to few places with my backpack and it was way better than carrying a duffle bag or a stroley. Well, it depends upon your own choice how are you travelling but a backpack gives chances to roam around the area on foot like locals. You don't really carry your suitcase in a local spice market, do you!!


Lately, I've been planning a lot for my future trips. Some to tourist places and other to normal routine places. Now being a student, I don't really have flights for those trips and I usually travel by trains. (cheap and best). After looking on too many options, I found that a backpack would be most suitable for my journeys.

Now, packing a backpack is an art in itself. You can't just throw your stuff in. You actually have to pack it. So here are few very simple hacks to provide you with a fully loaded bag that won't disappoint you.

First thing I would suggest is that "roll up your denims and shirts". It looks weird some times because you might want to fold your shirts in a very cliche method. That's just not for backpacks!
Rolling them up would occupy lesser space and keep them least wrinkled.

Second important thing that I felt is the space for water bottle. Always carry a light weight bottle and you don't need to carry those bulky, heavy and thermos kind of bottles.

No doubt you will get a wide range of mouth watering food to fill up your stomach but always carry food alternatives. (imperative if your are planning for some serious hiking). And that also lit the need of lighters and battery light.

Avoid putting your shoes into the bag. In fact, don't carry an extra pair of shoes. But just in case you have to, try hanging them somewhere outside of the bag. (it looks cool too). Same applies to your sleeping pad is you are carrying one)

If your bag doesn't have a attached rain protector, just carry a suitable sized plastic sheet or you can put a compact fold-able umbrella.

Place you money always in the interior of the bag so that it's hard to pick. Carry earphones instead of headphones if you like listening to music while travelling. Headphones are just too much wastage of space.

Lately, the term "backpacking" has become popular and have become a culture in the travelling genre. People are getting out of their houses on a backpack just to explore the unseen. They travel to places that are not "tourist places". We, the social humans, are now trying to explore our world like nomads. (something like people used to do in history)

So guys, don't you think we should also leave our studies and just leave!!

If you like traveling then there is no point cancelling your travel plans just because you are on tight budget. There are things you can keep in mind while preparing your itinerary that would help you cut down the expenses. No doubt, reducing the prices will reduce the luxury from your trip but at least, you are getting to go somewhere. And moreover, travel was never about five star hotels, it's about the most you can get to explore.



No going further into theoretical aspects, let's discuss some points on how one can travel even if he's broke or on a very tight budget.

1. Forget hotels and look for hostels

No doubt you can get a hotel after you get to a place by exploring the nearby areas. But you might end up listening "sorry sir, we are already full". To avoid that, you can always prebook your hotels and do check for them online. There are more chances that you can get hotels at cheaper prices. Other option is, forget hotels as you are on a tight budget and you do not care about luxury at all. Try finding hostels where rooms are shared by all those who are "broke"! It definitely increases the chances of making new friends and the experience is worth trying.

2. Indian trains are awesome

If you are travelling and you have enough time, choose trains over flights. Indian trains are awesome as you get to meet new people and more likely, you would meet some groups that are travelling to the same place. Stick with one such group if it allows and your further expenses are reduced. (Sharing guys!!) In the trains also, try travelling at night as that would eliminate the need of AC coaches. Regular sleeper class would be fine! (be daring enough and travel in General class, prices are lesser than a pizza)

3. Taste the local food, it's delicious

If you are travelling to some place and demands some "home like food", then you are just piling up your bills. Ask the locals about places where you can get their native food. Locate one such restaurant and have fun. Having their food would ensure two things, one your expense and other, a worthy experience. If you want to have some alcohol, try buying it from wine shops and have it at home. Otherwise you can go to a good bar, enjoy the hyped prices and get drunk. Then pay for the cabs and all because you would need someone to drop you to your hotels or hostel. Keep in mind that you are on budget.

4. Missing home? Text but don't call

This one is the least considered factor that introduces few hundred bucks to expenses and no one thinks about it. When we are not in home state or country, the roaming call rates are another hole in your pocket. But calling home is important, right? You can always find free wifi connections. Sometimes in hotels or hostels, a coffee cafe or at some public area (like in Cannaught Place in New Delhi, though for 20 mins) Use internet calling over normal phoning. Text your dearest ones and send them your photos over internet. This probably would lessen missing!

5. Always pack light

Get a good backpack and pack only those things which are necessary. Carrying too much clothes will not do any better. Just pack some basic clothes as per the required weather of the place. Apart from clothing, there are things like headphones which occupy extra space, so you better get earphones. A light and compact water bottle, canvas shoes, a smartphone (instead of a bulky camera) are some things you might want to carry. The point in carrying a light backpack rather than a bulky suitcase is that you can carry you luggage anywhere. It's much easier with a backpack.

Looking into my laptop with a coffee on one side and a notepad on the other, is how I am usually spotted. I don't just make my eyes sore looking at the boring laptop but I keep looking for some really good photographs to feature them in my next blog post. 

Ever been to India or planning to visit? India is not impossible at all to travel, it's just little tricky at times. One might find it annoying and waste of time and money but in reality, it's paradise for the traveler souls. Countries like in Europe are crafted during the recent history while India is being crafted over the long time. So it had to be different.

While travelling to India, you might find handy the below points because these are the problems and joys I keep feeling being an Indian.

1. Beware of Google Maps 

Several times, I had been stuck in the crowded and narrow streets of the cities where cars can't even enter the way. No doubt, it tells you the shortest paths. I am not here to scare you of Navigation Services but just to inform you. Avoid the shortest paths as these may turn into single lane streets. If you are using such service, try travelling through the main Highways.

2. The public transit is crowded 

The cities like New Delhi, metro-cities to be specific, are equipped with a fast and dynamic metro. But other places where metros are not available uses buses, trains and cabs. Buses and trains being crowded leaves you with no choice but cabs. But it's all same sort of thing because of Traffic Jams.
So choose you outing timings carefully and avoid peak hour(office rush).

3. Select you shoes carefully

The weather of India is like a girl with mood-swings. It starts to rain and the very next moment, there would be bright and warm sun making a rainbow! On a day with chilling breezes you might want to wear your sneakers but on beach, the scenario would be totally different where "chappals" would be the best option. One can't predict which shoes he's going to wear the next morning!

4. Rain, it starts anytime 

In the season of spring, one simple just can't predict the rain. It rains anytime without any prior indication. Apart from spring, in some areas of the country, it's 12 months a rainy season. Today it would be rain and next day would be a simple warm and cozy sun.

5. India has a lots of festivals

Throughout the whole year, there happens to be some kind of festival in different regions of the country. And by festival, I mean the crowd. The streets are crowded and you might regret taking a car in streets. Just roam around on foot, click some good pictures of Indians celebrating the festival and go back to your hotel.

6. Bar culture is getting popular

One of the reason that Bar culture is getting popular in India is that Indian people are getting used to the concept of "try everything and regret nothing". This has made cities full of bars and lounges. Foreigners might find the booze cheap because of their "thick dollars"!! Avoid getting so drunk that you couldn't even go back to your hotel. Drink less and stay safe.

7. Time would Pass

People are often confused about how long their stay should be. They are worried that they would get bored here. But the reality is time would pass anyhow. One can't be bored in India. There are tones of places and one is never lack of places. There are many things that one can try here. Biking is one of such things following yoga, meditation, hiking, etc.

Note: You might have heard many things about India but in reality it's a great country to travel and awesome in people's hospitality. Have one thing in mind that you are India's guest and you'll be treated well enough to make you remember the trip throughout your lifetime.

We all go to movies where superstars perform and we enjoy. Had you ever thought about the origin of film industry? It originated as theater where artists performs with rehearsals but no Retakes!

Such artists are performing in your city and probably you don't even have an idea. Worry not, here are some of the very beautiful plays that are around the corner. As it's Independence Day, so most of the plays occurring take us to the timeline of partition of the country. Here are the plays that I suggest that you watch.

1. Jis Lahore Nai Dekhya, O Jamyai Nai

The play takes us back to Lahore to backdrop of 1947 Partition. The story is about an old Hindu women who fights against the riots and refuses to give away her property to a Muslim refugee family from Lucknow.

With the goons taking advantage over the situation, but however remain ignorant of the bonds of love and humanity.

2. Pakistan Aur Alzheimer's 

Details:

Pakistan Aur Alzheimer's is a heart rending story presented in a very hilarious way. The story features 90 year old man who recalls the times of partitions and its repercussions in a funny incorrect manner as he suffers from Alzheimer's.

However the events proceed, the old man's funny memoirs question a range of stereotypes about the tragic event-its genesis, cause, worth and its effects.

3. Court Martial 

Details:

Court Martial is an intense drama story of a recruit, Ram Chander who is an Army Officer, born to low-caste parents and is denied to social respect by immediate society. Going through all this social discrimination, he is forced to become a murderer and is tried for killing an Officer and injuring others.

Court Martial represents a combination of legal and poetic justice.

So these are the few plays that are about to take place. Be quick or leave it!

Like every year, this time also, Delhi is doing its part in celebrating the 69th Independence Day. The celebrations are done by organizing sundry awards for the artists and cultural performances. Such a cultural event brings together all the states of the country and people of other areas get to know the traditions and food (in short culture) of other areas.

So this is what we call as "exploring without travelling".(There's no such term, I just coined it myself). Talking precisely, there is an event called "Bharat Parv" going on in the city. The event is located in "Garden of five senses" which is located near Saket Metro Station at a distance you could walk or hire a ride.

The purpose of this event is to bring together all the cultures of the country through two main interests of the people. These two interests, I think, are food and music. And the event is doing well by putting forward these two things before the local public.




The details of the event are provided at the end of the post but I suggest that you go through the whole article. Being a "non foodie" kind of person, I hesitate try new dishes. So I just wandered around the garden at first. Passing by the food stalls surely attracts you with the mouth watering smell and you do want to stop for a while to taste it. So I did passed a few stalls and then finally decided to stop at the Bihar section. "Litti Chokha" was the only dish I've had earlier. So without taking any risk, I had "Litti Chokha". Believe me the taste was close to the taste of a friend's mother food.



Not just food, there is also a setup for the cultural performances of dance and music. A well decorated stage, beautiful lighting and calm audience waiting. What else does an Artist want!

The day I went there, they had like 9 different performances, all of different state and culture. I could watch only two of them but I'm sure all of them were awesome enough to get into your heart.





I liked the way people watched the dances. The breeze flowing and passing by your body by touching it along with such a beautiful music is quite a cocktail!

But I didn't like one thing to be honest. The audience mostly consisted of age group  40-60. According to me, this age group has seen enough of culture and traditions. Now it's our turn. But people of our age group are busy wandering around. I suggest that you do visit such events with your friends and family. And for those who say that they want to explore the world one day, I would rather say first explore your country while you are living here. And there's no such "one day" to explore the world but your life. Start with nearby locations.

The event is occurring in Garden of Five senses, Near Saket Metro Station.
Timmings: 5 PM to 11 PM.
Dates : 11th August to 15th August.
Entry : Free (only if you enter after 5PM)
